Watch apps for the Garmin fenix 5 Plus (Garmin fenix 5 Plus only)

You get two files: garminapp.PRG (the control app) and sppartanview.PRG (the read-only status widget). They only work on the Garmin fenix 5 Plus. Install both; the phone app talks to whichever one is open.

Windows

1. Connect the watch to the PC with its USB cable. Wait until it shows up in File Explorer as fenix 5 Plus (a portable device, not a drive letter).
2. Open it: fenix 5 Plus > Primary > GARMIN > Apps.
3. Copy garminapp.PRG and sppartanview.PRG into that Apps folder. If asked to replace existing files, choose Replace.
4. In File Explorer, eject the watch, then unplug it. The watch loads the apps after it is unplugged.

macOS

macOS cannot open the watch by itself. Use a free MTP tool such as Android File Transfer (Garmin's usual advice for Mac; not tested by us) or OpenMTP. 1. Install the tool and connect the watch with the USB cable (the watch must not be in a mode that blocks it: leave the watch idle on its watch face). 2. In the tool open Primary > GARMIN > Apps. 3. Copy garminapp.PRG and sppartanview.PRG into Apps. 4. Quit the tool and unplug the watch.

On the watch

• The control app: press the START/UP button, choose Apps and open sPParTAN.
• The widget: it appears in the widget loop (press UP/DOWN on the watch face) as sPParTAN.
• In the control app: UP = warmer, DOWN = colder, SELECT = menu, BACK = exit.

Phone

Install the sPParTAN app (TestFlight), pair the watch in Garmin Connect, then in sPParTAN tap the watch box to connect. The watch shows NO PHONE until the phone app is connected; opening the apps again or restarting the phone app helps if it stays stuck.
